Recent news reports announced that Pingpengcao Theatre Troupe's newest production, One Thousand and Two Nights, will be performed on September 6 at 2:30 PM in the small theatre of Yuanlin Performance Hall.
The story begins like a fairy tale. Long ago, two princes set out on a journey with three magical keys to rescue a fairy princess. Across the sea lies a land filled with the scent of roses and jasmine—the fairy's homeland. She is trapped in a crystal cave, and the princes must defeat a giant lion and a phoenix. Only by finding a secret passage in a dark palace can they save the fairy.
One Thousand and Two Nights is adapted from a French animated work with the same title. Set in the 18th century, the story follows a noble boy, Asu, and Asi, the son of his nanny. Through many adventures and challenges, the two build a deep friendship. In the end, the story reaches a surprising and joyful ending. The original animation was recommended by the Ghibli Museum in Japan. Through this stage adaptation, the troupe hopes families can enjoy the unique atmosphere of a magical fairy world and experience different cultures together.
Pingpengcao Theatre Troupe shared that to improve the quality of the production, they selected and trained talented young actors from Changhua County to join the children's troupe. They also invited Professor Geng, Yi-wei from Taipei National University of the Arts to provide professional guidance. Their goal is to create high-quality performances that are both artistic and enjoyable for audiences.
According to the Changhua County Cultural Affairs Bureau, since its founding, Pingpengcao Theatre Troupe has been committed to promoting local arts and developing young talent. The troupe often performs in schools and rural communities and offers theatre experience programs for students. By creating new productions every year, the troupe hopes to continue growing and inspiring audiences. Their performances not only entertain people but also encourage reflection and share positive social values.
